Spotlight On Our Heroes
Summer Reading 2015

The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh

5 marvelous and unexpected stars!

When I initially started to read this book I didn't think I was going to love it. I thought I was only going to like it. This book surpassed my expectations and then some. It follows Shahrzad as she seeks revenge for the murder of her best friend by the King of Khorasan Khalid. In this retelling of 1001 Nights, I was blown away at the simple magic, characters, and overall storyline. This story had my attention from the start and kept its grasp on me till the very end.

I cannot wait till the second installment comes out in May 2016. I am BEYOND excited!

Read this book now or if you don't like to wait between books, read it when or close to the release date for The Rose and the Dagger. Either way you should read this book! Because it was that awesome!

The Burning Sky by Sherry Thomas

4 Stars!

This book had me excited with the prologue, a girl disguised as a boy... but then it soon just too a bit long to say how she ended having to do that. Started off a bit slow but after a few chapters it started to pick up and caught my attention again. Iolanthe and Titus made the story for me. This book was adventurous and romantic which is just up my ally!

So read this if your in the mood for a light fantasy and want to fall in love with the characters, because this book did that for me!

Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard

5 Awesomely Freaking Stars!

This is a world divided by blood – red or silver.
When looking to even read this book that was the sentence that caught my attention and made me want to read the book. I liked that it was a different concept and I was in the mood to read about some magic. And I was so glad that I did! The plot twist...The betrayal... My Mind was BLOWN!
Read this you know you want to if you already haven't.

And now onto the sequel, Glass Sword! I am so excited.

Wallbanger by Alice Clayton

5 Huge Stars!

What to say about Wallbanger by Alice Clayton. Hum. It was Awesome! It was Hilarious! It is definitely  one of my favorites. No joke. This book was well - written with the perfect blend of the most romantic, funny, witty, and steamy words to make anyone's heart squeeze. And if that is not enough, there is an amazing cat who makes this book even more great! I loved Simon, I loved Caroline, I loved all of the characters. And that doesn't always happen.
This is a must read for anyone who needs to just laugh out loud!

Definite recommendation.

Frankencrayon by Michael Hall

frankencrayon

4 super cute/funny stars!

This picture book has been canceled.
Wait.
How can we be on the front flap of a canceled book?
Good question.
That summary alone sets the tone for how funny and cute this book is! I love that the crayons come to life and that it is a book that interacts with the reader. It is a really cool concept that I bet some will find confusing. I really enjoyed reading this by myself and to my son. He smiled so much as I was reading it to him.
Definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good laugh as well as reading to children.

Mustache Baby by Bridget Heos

mustache

5 Adorablely Cute Stars!
This book was so cute and funny to read to my son, and he smiled the entire time. What isn't to like this book? It has babies and mustaches! Probably one of the best combinations ever.
The best thing about this book is that the types of mustaches give the baby different personalities ranging from good and evil. Awesome cute book that I recommend and then some!
